Bob Green

7 December 2009:
We understand that Bob Green, former LibDem Councillor for Peppard Ward and Leader of the LibDems on Reading Borough Council, passed away last weekend. He was 71.

Bob was elected to two councils on the same day on May 1, 1995: Berkshire County Council and Reading Borough Council.

He served the Borough for 13 years, rising to leader of the Liberal Democrats and also served as mayor in 2000/2001.

He was a Berkshire County Councillor until the authority was abolished in 1998.

Bob was made a Freeman of Reading Borough Council, following his retirement in 2008.

Cllr Jamie Chowdhary said "In the short time I knew Bob, I found him to be both pleasant and a real gentleman who was liked by many. Bob had served the community well and I am sure that a lot of people will remember him and miss him".

We offer our condolences to his wife Gill and daughter Laura and other family members at this sad time.
